Hollywood Heat #3

One More Time

Rate this book
A scorching, heart-tugging new standalone by New York Times
bestselling author Laurelin Paige!

I would have been stupid to turn the opportunity down.
A feature film starring the hottest man in Hollywood—and me.
It wasn’t just the chance of a lifetime; it was the first time I’d landed the leading role.
But Tanner James isn’t just any actor, aka “Sex God”.
He’s the man who took my virginity then shattered my dreams.

If I can use this part to launch a new career, it will be worth it.
If I can stop myself from falling back into bed with Tanner, it will be a miracle.
And my heart?
There’s no way he’s taking that from me.
He’s always been the one who owned it.

2nd Blurb:

Ten years ago, we were the toast of the town.
Tanner's acting career had just begun. He was hotter than the stage lights, and twice as captivating. The gorgeous Australian A-lister was everyone's teenage dream. And he'd picked me. Or so I thought, until he proved to be as false as everything else about Hollywood. Now I've finally scored the perfect opportunity to star in a major film. The kicker? Tanner will be my co- star. I don't know if I can do this one more time….

Right now, we're the talk of the town.
Jenna's even more beautiful than she was the last time we were together. And just like before, I can't keep my hands off her. She still doesn't know the truth. The secret of what really happened back then. Now I have the length of this shoot to convince her to rewrite our script. But if I have her one more time, will once ever be enough?

It’s been ten years—you’d think hearing that she doesn’t want to see me would have stopped hurting by now. But Jenna’s a wound that won’t heal.

ONE MORE TIME is a steamy second chance romance between a Hollywood A-list actor and a beautiful supermodel who is about to get a big break with her acting career. Romances with Hollywood actors are one of my favorites and Laurelin Paige delivered with this one. There is not a doubt in my mind that her fans are going to fall in love with her latest Hero, Tanner James. I could not get enough of this character and am a little sad that this is a standalone because I wouldn’t mind spending more time with him.

It’s been ten years since Tanner James and Jenna Stahl were Hollywood’s ”IT” couple. You’d think that ten years would be enough time to get over the pain and regret from the past, but neither Tanner nor Jenna have been able to move on completely from their time together. They were each other’s first loves when they were still teenagers and just starting out in their careers. Now after so many years apart, they are about to be thrown into each other’s lives again when they land the leading roles in a romantic comedy which is being directed by one of Hollywood’s most sought-after and hottest Directors. Jenna’s days as America’s top model are nearing its end and she’s been trying for almost four years to get her acting career going. This opportunity is bittersweet because it will definitely make her a Hollywood A-Lister but she’ll also have to spend a lot of time being up close and personal with the one man who shattered her heart.

While Jenna is dreading being in Tanner’s presence, he couldn’t be more thrilled and he’s a little more than hurt when Jenna makes it clear that they are to keep things professional and there will be no room for anything else between them. Once we meet and get to know Tanner it becomes quite obvious that there’s more to the story of the couple’s breakup.

Jenna’s plans to keep Tanner at a distance proved to be futile. She’s no match against his charms and her resolve quickly dwindles. Time has not extinguished the scorching hot chemistry the couple has between the sheets and soon enough they agree to keep their affair secret and also nothing more than sexual.

How long can they fool the paparazzi and themselves with their charade as a ”fake” couple? Can Tanner and Jenna truly have a second chance when the same Hollywood trappings from the past still exist in the present?

Here are my overall ratings:

Hero: 5
Heroine: 4
Plot: 4.5
Angst: 4
Steam: 5
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 5

Jenna Stahl is a gorgeous well known supermodel living in Los Angeles. She’s modeled since she was 16, but her real dream is to be an actress, so when she learns she’s been offered a role in a feature film she can’t turn it down. The only issue is her love interest in the movie. Her costar is Tanner James, the most beautiful man in Hollywood, and also the man who destroyed her when he broke her heart. She fell in love with him when she was 17. They were together 3 years before everything fell apart, and Jenna hasn’t seen Tanner in ten years. She’s spent the last decade trying to forget him, and can’t let her personal baggage from the past ruin this amazing opportunity. She knows it might be awkward, but she hopes to maintain a professional distance while working. They are both adults there to do a job.

Jenna soon learns she has no control over the fireworks they create together when they touch. She wants to be in control and act like she’s unaffected, but their connection is undeniable. It’s one of the reasons she was hired. Everyone wants a Janner reunion at the box office. Their relationship was always public & in the spotlight. Their chemistry on set is on fire, and full of anger & passion. They both feel stuck between the past and the present as their scenes blur what’s real and what’s part of the script.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Tanner still regrets ever letting Jenna go. A fifteen second video ended the most real relationship of his life, and he wants the chance to make things right. They have a messy history, but Jenna is his first love, and he’s never been able to get over her. He’s excited to be filming with her in Vancouver, and she’s even more stunning than he remembered. He wants to remind her of how good they are together, which isn’t too hard as their on screen kisses start to feel less like acting, and more like real life.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

-Jenna has always been the most beautiful girl on earth.

-She looked at me with an intensity that no one ever has again. It’s the same intensity I see in her eyes this very moment.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Jenna thought she’d moved on, but is slowly realizing she’s not over Tanner, & maybe never will be. He’d once been her everything, her home, and the one to make her feel loved and cherished. She’s doing the one thing she promised herself she wouldn’t do which is fall for him again. She doesn’t think she can survive him breaking her heart a second time, but she can’t fight her feelings anymore.

As they reunite Tanner isn’t sure what everything means but he knows Jenna still owns his heart, & that they have to deal with the past before they can have a future. They have to let go of the hurts they’ve been holding onto for years & fight for each other.

This was a wonderful standalone, second chance romance about a beautiful model and a delicious Australian movie star. It’s about first loves who find their way back to one another.

Of all the actors in the entire world, why did it have to be him?

One More Time was a sweet and sexy second chance romance. After ten years apart and a tumultuous breakup, Jenna is forced to not only see her ex that she never got over, but star opposite of him in a movie that may make her career. After years of trying to break out from being just a model, this is her chance to finally make it big. If she can just get a handle on the pent up emotions and feelings that still clearly run between them.

The set up was great and it had all the workings for a swoony read. Unfortunately for me, consistent miscommunication is a pet peeve of mine. And Jenna and Tanner were so focused on their own agendas, that rationally talking things out didn't happen until the very end of the book. When Jenna wasn't jumping to conclusions, Tanner was. The back and forth dance they had going between them was equally fun and frustrating. Admittedly, at times it had me wanting to rip my hair out because for two grown adults, they acted like a bunch of teenagers. The misunderstanding that caused their ten year separation struck me as especially silly. I just couldn't wrap my mind around it. I think ultimately it's what lowered my rating.

I truly did enjoy the story and the sizzling chemistry between the characters. Where I struggled is the reasoning behind their separation. I couldn't help but feel irritated that they spent ten years apart over something that could have been resolved with a phone call. And while I somewhat understood Tanner's reasoning, Jenna's I struggled with more.

Now don't get me wrong, it was still an enjoyable read and one I liked quite a bit. It wasn't the typical page turner that I've read from this author, but it still hit the spot.

This was exactly what I needed! I felt myself slipping into a bit of a funk and unable to connect to the books I was reading. I just needed an audiobook binge! One More Time by Laurelin Paige really hit the spot, in more ways than one.

It's a quick read that’s super sexy and oh so sweet! The characters are both engaging and I enjoyed their backstory. Watching them reconnect throughout the story was a real treat.
Jenna and Blake instantly connected ten years ago. Their relationship was the talk of the town. They were the toast of the L.A. social scene. An unfortunate mistake and miscommunication lead to hurt feelings and the end of era so to speak. Fast forward to current day and Jenna's first big break comes in the form of a starring role in a hot new film, but starring her ex-boyfriend Tanner who she hasn't seen or spoken in years.

What I loved: The story is fast paced, super cute and smoking hot. Laurelin Paige knows how to do smoking HOT! Loved it!

The audiobook is narrated by Erin Mallon and Rupert Channing. I really enjoyed the great narration! I have to admit, I always worry about accents when listening to audiobooks, but this one was spot on. Excellent execution by both narrators. I highly recommend the audible version of this amazing second chance romance!

I love these narrators...

I really enjoyed One More Time. It was a fairly short listen as I only downloaded to my phone this morning. Saying that, I did put in a little extra time as I was so desperate to see these characters work through their problems. It was the old...broke up because they didn't talk their problems out. Sure, I get that you need to learn the value of communicating, but dear me, it would be a pleasure to read a romance now and again where that's not the major plot point.

As an Aussie, I find it pretty amusing to hear people attempt to talk with an Aussie accent. Erin Mallon does a surprisingly good Aussie accent, but what was even more interesting, is that she does a fantastic male voice. I was even questioning whether it was her or Rupert in some of her scenes. Rupert is VERY easy to listen to. He has a clear Australian accent that's not OTT and even reminds me a little of Chris Hemsworth. Considering that Erin and Rupert have never actually met, they make you feel like they've known each other for years and were working right beside each other. A great combination.

It's always interesting to me to see how the famous live. I absolutely LOVE that the author brings a bit of reality to their characters. They have to work at maintaining their bodies and follow a fairly strict diet too. It makes sense that something as simple as a trip to the beach would be a mistake. No, not for the paparazzi or security risks. One of the main reasons to avoid the beach...getting too much sun and either burning or tanning. Too much extra work for the makeup artists to cover up. So, maybe it's not all glam and glitz being a movie star.

Once the problems of the past had been dealt with and this couple finally communicated with each other, they were perfect together. I enjoyed seeing their sweet romance play out.

I hope to hear more stories with Erin and Rupert narrating, in the future.

Narrator Review:
I loved Erin Mallon and Rupert Channing! I’ve listened to Erin before and she is one I’ll auto buy for. Rupert is a new narrator to me and holy cow, that accent! It’s safe to say I highly recommend the audio version of this book.

Story Review:
Tanner and Jenna are formerly Janner to the public eye. When they were just kids, Jenna is already an accomplished super model and Tanner is the hot new actor in Hollywood. When they meet, sparks fly and despite their impossible schedules, they make a three year relationship work. That is until the paparazzi buts in.

Ten years later Jenna has managed to never run into Tanner after her humiliation of their break up. In all that time she has been trying to break into the acting scene. She’s starting to believe it will never happen when she gets the most amazing opportunity with a director who is successful breaking out new actors. Her dreams are finally coming true but there is just one little snag. Her co-star is non other than Tanner.

Tanner has never been able to get over Jenna. The paparazzi broke them up but he’s also stayed away to give Jenna a chance to break into acting. He’s always known it was her dream but felt she gave up her chance at opportunities to be with him. When it hasn’t happened for her ten years later, he’s determined to make it happen and get a second chance at her love.

Despite how much relationship angst is in this story, I still felt it was a fun, quick read. Tanner being an A list actor that should be full of confidence, was pretty comical with how much he stumbled his way back into Jenna’s life. The fake fight scene for the movie was entertaining and I like that we got to see these two get a do over and handle it the way they should have. This was a great audio book to listen too. Especially Rupert’s accent! Audible provided by author.

One More Time is a second chance romance of a Hollywood "It" couple (they have a couple nickname and everything!) 10 years ago, they were in terribly in love until he was caught "cheating" on her (I'm putting that in quotes because you know there's something to it.)

Tanner & Jenna are really good people and their romance is both hot and believable. You can tell there were a lot of feelings and their love is definitely not over - if it was, it wouldn't hurt so much. I even enjoyed the filming of the story - although the script was so basic! The problem with this book was the misunderstanding. It was too stupid for words! Tanner shouldn't have waited 10 freaking years to go after her.

The best part of the book was the narration. Erin Mallon kicked ass as usual and Rupert Channing's Australian accent was sexy as hell.

Definitely recommend the audio, just be warned that the misunderstanding may make you want to pull your hair out.

This is a short and to-the-point wish-fulfillment fantasy and if you can give it its premise (as you should for wish-fulfillment stories) it works out just fine.

I'm not sure what more to add to that. I liked them both and enjoyed them being together. I liked that the past breakup made sense and that it seemed natural with their individual weaknesses. And I liked how both were stronger, now, and that their growth was apparent and appreciated. I think the final conflict was maybe a touch contrived but I didn't mind because it didn't drag on unreasonably and it served to highlight the strength of their current relationship.

So a solid three stars for being engaging despite being short and by-the-numbers.

A note about Steamy: There were three full-on (and lengthy) explicit sex scenes and two more that pulled back after going on a bit. For a story this short, that exceeds my personal steam tolerance, though it's a close call.

Hollywood hottie? ☑
Second chance romance ☑
Drama free ☑

Yessssss! One More Time really hit the spot with me, it was just what I needed to read when I picked it up.

I love a Hollywood romance almost as much as I love a rock star romance, so it was a no brainer for me to read One More Time.

I adored Jenna and Tanner (helloooo fellow Aussie!). I loved their interaction, I love the fight and the snark between them.

But most of all, I love how they love each other. After all they have been through, that there is still attraction... sigh. It's like something from the movies... oh, wait!

I liked that this wasn't just about some shallow, Hollywood types. It delved into the emotions of our lovelies, and while they were playing the "Hollywood game", they were so much more than that.

I couldn't help but cheer them on.

Sweet, sexy, tender and emotional, One More Time ticked a lot of my boxes.

DNF. No rating. This book was not written for me, so I don't feel like assigning any stars!

I got this one on sale at some point in the recent past. I like second-chance stories because that sometimes means there is a fantastic gut-punch-inducing reason that the first chance went pear-shaped. That was not my experience here. It was just a bit too sweet for my taste. There is also the Hollywood aspect of the story, and honestly, those tropes just don't float my boat.

For what it is worth, it seems like these two MC boneheads are headed for a HEA, so this might be a great read for many folks!

“Perfect girl, you’ll be the only one who will ever hold you back.”

ONE MORE TIME, Laurelin Paige’s latest standalone emotional romance, was just as sweet as it was sexy. With a heart-tugging storyline full of anger, tension and passion, Tanner and Jenna’s happily ever after was just what I needed to sooth the soul and put a big smile on my face. I’m an addict to Ms. Paige’s words and I can never get enough, so every time she release a new book, I get incredibly giddy and excited. ONE MORE TIME is a wonderful second-chance romance that will have you turning the pages as fast as you can. You will devour their love story, but at the same time you will want to take your time and savor ever last word. It’s addicting. It’s sexy. It’s sweet and utterly romantic. This is one second-chance romance you will not want to miss!

This was an audible exclusive release and seeing as I am an audible book junkie it was an easy 1-click for me.

Tanner and Jenna are both actors and were in a loving relationship. Key word being ‘were.’ They were the ‘it’ couple that magazines love to have on their covers and entertainment news websites followed their every move. Until everything went tits up.

Ten years later and Jenna is struggling to get her big break. She is offered the opportunity to play the lead female role in a movie. The only hitch is that Tanner is the male lead. Seriously, why did it have to be him? She can do this though right? Just keep things professional and don’t let him back under her skin.

Tanner is gob smacked when he sees Jenna again, she is even more beautiful now and he is desperate to talk to her and clear the air about what happened all those years ago.

Jenna has managed to perfect the ‘resting bitch face’ look around Tanner but inside she is struggling to keep it together. This is a just a job and soon it will be over and she won’t have to see him again.

Tanner has his mind set on getting his girl back and he only hopes that she will see how good they are together and that he can convince her to give him a shot one more time.

They were each other's everything ten years ago. For three years they were the IT couple in Hollywood.

Can they forgive each other?
Will there be a Happily Ever After?

Eeeeep - a Hollywood Romance. For this Rock-Star-Romance-Addict, Actors are almost as good as Rockstars! ☺

And it was a really adorable story. Jenna and Tanner are so clearly meant to be together. But things happened ten years ago - we just don't yet know what exactly - but of course things were not really the way Jenna thought they were ...

They could've been together all that time. Why did Tanner wait ten years to get her back? WHY???? Idiot! And why didn't she listen to him? They're both idiots. But they were both so young back then and all alone in Hollywood and then suddenly everything happened - they just couldn't deal with it. But now they can - hopefully! Just TALK to each other. Jeez!

The story was maybe a tiny little bit too predictable and uneventful. The movie they were shooting does not really sound all that interesting, and I really don't like the ten years they lost. That's just stupid. No female is going to become a star in today's youth & beauty-obsessed Hollywood at the age of 29. It was all a bit ridiculous - but I realllly enjoyed those few hours of reading time!
Oh, and a tiny little thing about the writing. The chapters were too long for my tastes. I started reading and I so needed a snack, but I couldn't stop, because the chapter just wouldn't end. I need shorter chapters. Not stupidly short ones, but a little break here and there would be nice.☺

But I really enjoyed reading it. It was adorable and sweet and sexy and Hollywoody ... A cute second-chance Hollywood Romance! I would definitely watch the Movie!☺

Maybe you’ve seen One more Time around already but it’s because the audio version of the book was available first. Now it’s time for ebook reader like me to finally have the piece in our hands and discover who Jenna & Tanner are!

Jenna is an actress, well she wants to be one. She is more a model close to retirement at 29. Can you believe it? Retirement that young? Well she can’t either so when a movie proposal comes but her co-star is the only guy who broke her hearts ten years ago. What a girl’s to do? She says no but comes soon to realize that her nemesis is on her dream’s way. Has she a real choice?

Tanner is a successful actor, always have been. But while his professional life is a dream, his personal life is not as satisfying. But his next project might changed it all. He might have a second chance after falling to make happy the girl of his dream 10 years ago.

One More Time was incredibly charming and sweet. Both characters have are strong-minded but they are both scared to make the wrong move. This lead to a lot of confusion and miscommunication. While I’m not particularly fond of the latter, Laurelin Paige makes it cute and understandable in the circumstance both characters are in.

One more time was sexy with a touch of erotica which only added to the inevitable chemistry Jenna & Tanner felt. Second chance in love was exactly the right path for them both.

I bloody loved this book!! Such a fun read.

I have been on a dark and angsty kick of late so it was really refreshing to read a book that had me LOLing and smiling the whole way through. Tanner is DELICIOUS and I kinda loved Jenna too. Their history, their chemistry and their genuine affection poured off the page. I read this is one session (a late night but so worth it).

Definitely recommend if you're looking for a believable, funny, sexy second chance story ❤️

Through the first 50% of the book I often thought I would DNF it.

Still... I continued and I’m glad I did because it wasn’t bad.

There were some things here and there that bogged me
(an example? The h goes to the H’s house: he opens the door bared chest and a couple of minutes later, as they’re making out, she unbuttons his shirt. Huh?!?)

All in all, I liked it!

*Audiobook Review*

A swoony and emotional second-chance romance!

I really enjoyed listening to One More Time! It’s making me anxious and gitty to read the actual book, which is an exceptional quality to have in an audiobook.

The storyline was sweet and sexy, but also delved into the deeper, more emotional aspects of two people finding love again with each other. The narration was superb, and I loved both characters’ POV. Each were feeling the same, and each were having difficulties with expressing how they truly felt. But to actually listen and hear the progress they’ve each achieved, and to lay their hearts on the line once again, really showcased each character growth from the time their hearts were initially broken. And only each other had the ability to heal the other’s broken heart.

One More Time was an amazingly well written book that exudes emotional unrest, longing, and sizzling chemistry. Both narrators did a fantastic job portraying Tanner and Jenna, and the wonderful storyline makes this story a quick-listen and one you’ll enjoy from beginning to end.

4 Stars!

I had the pleasure of listening to the audiobook of One More Time before this ebook was released. But let me just say, this is JUST as good as the audiobook!

Unresolved issues, lost love, and broken hearts all take center-stage is this second chance love story. The romantic, sexy, and bewitching storyline will ensnare you with it’s powerful dialogue and even more profound character dynamic.

An incredibly well-written book, One More Time shines a new light on Hollywood romances, and truly exposes the raw and intense emotions it takes to strive for one’s happily ever after.

I don't have much to say.

The fact is, I hate Jenna :D
I love Tanner *_*
I really don't like the switch up in a touch of dominance in the room. I love my alpha males and having Jenna command anything seemed superficial with how she is as a person in and of itself (which is stupid).

I'm disappointed that I didn't enjoy this read because Laurelin Paige is one of my all time favorite author.

"Awesome second chance romance"

What did you love best about One More Time?

I loved the passion between Jenna and Tanner.

Their connection was great 10 years ago and in the present it is perfect. So many things changed since they broke up all those years ago, but their love and chemistry were as strong as they were before, or even stronger, and that made their relationship better now, but there's one thing that's very different now, they both have grown up and that maturity makes thing easier now, to handle the pressure of being movie stars together as a couple, to trust again and to forgive and move on from the past.

What was one of the most memorable moments of One More Time?

I loved the date after the "fake date". I won't say more because #spoilers

Have you listened to any of Rupert Channing and Erin Mallon ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my first audio narrated by Rupert Channing and OH MY GOD, HIS ACCENT IS THE SEXIEST THING IN THE WORLD!! I was in love with his voice with the first word he said. His tone of voice is perfect, his pace, his pronunciation, his inflections. Everything was perfect, but his accent won it all. Seriously, his accent was just perfect for Tanner, the Australian Sex God!!

Erin Mallon, on the other hand, was really really great. I love her tone of voice and that she gives personality to her voice as she talks for the different characters.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

We don't have to fake it, to make it! LOL

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely. One More Time has the perfect balance between a sweet and a sexy romance, with the perfect amount of drama and a perfect HEA. Everybody should listen to this audiobook.

Several of my booklover friends/listeners and authors raved about this title. As an Audible Original and included in Audible's ROMANCE PACKAGE so I gave it a try. Bonus that Erin Mallon is one of the narrators. I love her and her performance rocks!! I haven't heard of Rupert Channing but I'm all about discovering new narrators. Both Erin's and Rupert's performance ROCKED! The hero, Tanner is Australian so ACCENT!! I'm a sucker for accents and when both narrators' performance includes the accent and they nail it. Oh PERFECTION!

The narrators were the best part of this 'second chance' contemporary romance. In general, the concept was good, however, it was difficult to connect with the characters and when the majority of the story involves the characters having sex (I KNOW some of you will LOVE that part) vs. developing their relationship so the reader can 'see', it just drags and if this was an ebook, I would have skipped over the scenes. DO NOT get me wrong.... I'm totally fine with steamy scenes, when done right, it works, however, this seemed more like a filler.

The heroine was indecisive with regards to the hero, Tanner. She goes from keeping things professional to jumping his bones. From being 'shy' to being a 'seductress'.

Tanner, the hero was significantly better then the heroine.

This couple has history, and lack of communication is their biggest issue! Seriously!

This is the first time reading Laurelin's books.... will I give her another try? Don't know.

SWEET JESUS!! I COULD NOT GET ENOUGH OF TANNER!!! *moans*

I looooove a second chance romance and this book had me melting and moaning repeatedly! Laurelin NEVER disappoints! God. Damn. This story was HAF! The chemistry was off the charts HOT! The banter was amazing! The tension, oh Jesus. Yes. I wanted more. More. More of Tanner and Jenna. Not gonna lie. I've got stars in my eyes and fire in my loins for this guy! *bites fist*. I fell hard for him.

3 One More Time Stars

I loved the narration of this book! Erin Mallon & Rupert Channing did a fantastic job keeping me entertained and engaged. I loved his accent!!

The story was ok, it was more than like but not love. I felt like Jenna was a little immature. I liked her gumption but I didn’t really like her overall character. Who wouldn’t confront their long-time boyfriend about something you see in a “Tabloid?” That just seems sketchy to me.

Tanner was all kinds of yum, but again the immature part of not fighting for what you want. So 10 years have to go by for you to want to fight.
I get the concept you need a twist for a romance book but for me, it was immature drama for drama sake. And I am not a fan of that.

But the narration is what kept me listening because if it had been any other narrator I don’t think I would have finished the book.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

This is one of those Laurelin does light hearted books.

Bit of humour. Some great character banter. Bit of naughtiness. Characters that you really want to have angry sex. And side characters like Walter that you want to be best friends with and have sleepovers. Did I say characters that have angry sex? Got to love angry sex.

Team Janner aka Tanner and Jenna were Hollywood darlings. Gorgeous model Jenna and hot young Aussie actor Tanner. But scandal breaks them up. Skip forward ten years, and a perfect casting. Throw in a trailer, a scowly, angry lady and a hot horny Aussie. Bingo! Kerching! Winner, winner chicken dinner.

There is more to this book than angry sex (did I say angry sex is hot?) there is a moral to this tale; relationships are about talking, listening and trust.

DNF at 35%. NOTE: I tried reading this via audio, and am thinking that it may have been the narration that killed it for me. But then again, I normally really like Erin Mallon, so it may just be that this story wasn't my cuppa.
